We conduct our principal businesses through three divisions: the U.S. Retirement Solutions and Investment Management Division, the U.S. Individual Life and Group Insurance Division and the International Insurance and Investments Division. We also conduct other activities in Corporate and Other operations. We refer to the businesses that comprise our three operating divisions and our Corporate and Other operations, collectively, as our "Financial Services Businesses." Our Common Stock reflects the performance of the Financial Services Businesses. We also have a Closed Block Business, which represents the results of our Traditional Participating Products segment prior to the demutualization. The Closed Block Business includes our in-force traditional participating life insurance and annuity products as well as other assets and equity that support these policies. Our Class B Stock, which was sold in a private placement and is not traded on any exchange, reflects the results of the Closed Block Business.
Prudential Financial, Inc.'s Common Stock began trading on December 13, 2001 on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol "PRU." Prudential's IPO and demutualization closed on December 18, 2001 at which point Prudential converted from a mutual insurance company to a stock company.
